Colombia - Geisha Honey

Acidity: Tart,  stone fruity

Body: Milky tea

Sweetness: Fruit sugar (Fructose)

Bitterness: Mild and black tea-like

Aroma: Peach, black tea and milk pudding

This coffee comes from the municipality of Támesis in the Antioquia region, located on the central and western slopes of the Andes. It is the country’s leading region in terms of coffee plantation size and the birthplace of coffee cultivation in Colombia. It is also here that the National Federation of Coffee Growers of Colombia was established. 

Due to the presence of two dry and two wet seasons throughout the year, coffee is harvested twice annually: the main harvest takes place from October to December, while the intermediate harvest occurs from May to June. The region is characterized by minimal temperature fluctuations throughout the year, ranging between 23-26°C, and fertile volcanic soils

Elkin Arcila was one of the first specialty coffee producers in his community. He now manages a plantation with 1,800 Geisha trees and has also founded a barista school in Támesis, where students can refine their sensory skills and work on improving coffee quality. 

Elkin applies a precise honey process, carefully de-pulping only the ripest cherries and drying them with their mucilage intact on raised beds. This method brings out a naturally sweet and fruity profile with balanced, softer acidity.
